Death and disillusionment. They might not sound like great reasons to get tickets to this King’s Theatre production. But Erich Maria Remarque’s novel has been carefully translated into a theatre production which brings out the true essence of the author’s intention – to remind you of the strength of the human sprit.

The first-person narratorship of the story is brought home well in a theatre setting, as audiences can feel somehow involved in the action. World War I is the setting but the human values of comradeship and horror of war by those thrust into it have not dated.

Directed by Giles Croft, starring James Alexandrou (Eastenders) and adapted for the stage by Robin Kingsland.
